Own Your Website Accounts!

At Safety Orange Websites we encourage all our clients to OWN their own websites.  This means:
  • Putting the website Domain Name in your personal/company name.  You will create an account with your Domain Name provider.
  • Creating an account with a Web Hosting company in your personal/company name
  • If applicable, creating a Website in your personal/company name.  You will create an account in the web building platform.
Many people just hire a web designer to make them a new website.  The web designer then:
  1. Purchases the domain name (in their own name on their account)
  2. Already has an account with a web host (in their own name)
  3. And either creates a website from scratch, uploads it to the Internet, and then connects it with their hosting company,
  4. Or uses a free web design company (in their own name) with templates, creates the website  and then connects it with the hosting company.
Many of the companies that offer free website design also offer hosting and domain names.  We use Weebly because they have the best customer service and the easiest interface for new users.  Weebly also has a huge selection of beautiful website templates.  Since we offer our customers full control of their website accounts, we want our customers to be able to change, update and maintain their websites with ease.
  • We encourage you to buy the Domain name in your name
  • We get the hosting account in your name
  • We make the website platform account in your name
If your web designer has an account with a web building platform, there is a good chance your website was created in the web designer's account.  There are ways to transfer it into your name, but it will take some time.
